A speech therapist, also known as a speech-language therapist, speech-language pathologist or a speech pathologist, specializes in the evaluation and treatment of communication disorders/delays and swallowing disorders. Communication disorders include those involving language, articulation (speech sound disorders), fluency, and voice/resonance.

An occupational therapist, also known as an OT,  provides evaluation and treatment for individuals with disabilities, recovering from injuries or experiencing physical and cognitive changes in order to help them participate in the various activities or "occupations" of everyday live.  For children, "occupations" are activities that enable them to learn and develop life skills (e.g. school activities), be creative and or derive enjoyment (e.g. play), and thrive (e.g. self-care and care for others).   An OT may help children  improve their fine motor, visual motor, cognitive, sensory processing, social, and play skills.

A physical therapist, also known as a PT, provides evaluation and treatment for individuals who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform physical activities. They use treatment techniques to promote mobility, reduce pain, improve or restore function, and prevent disability.
